SCI Summary: SCI supports people with disabilities, behavioral challenges, medically complex needs, transitioning youth, the elderly, and other populations using Maryland Department of Health's Targeted Case Management and Supports Planning work models.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy, the Director of Strategy plays a critical role in advancing SCI's growth, diversification, and strategic direction. This position leads organization-wide strategic planning, providing insights and recommendations that reflect SCI's mission, vision, and values. The Director of Strategy supervises managers, ensures cross-functional collaboration, and drives the use of strategic tools and data to support visibility and performance tracking. This role bridges strategic vision and execution to position SCI for long-term impact, innovation, and sustainability.

Essential Duties:
• Lead strategic planning, working across departments to ensure clarity, alignment, and measurable outcomes.
• Supervise and support Managers within the Strategy Center of Excellence, providing guidance, prioritization, and development.
• Lead market validation and business case development for priority opportunities.
• Leverage internal and external research partnerships to uncover trends, unmet needs, and market conditions that shape opportunity identification.
• Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the Vice President of Strategy; collaborate closely to inform prioritization, decision-making, and organization wide planning.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to define requirements for pilots, new programs, and scaling strategies.
• Utilize tools like dashboards, KPIs, and templates to enhance visibility, alignment, and performance tracking across the organization.
• Represent the Strategy COE in internal and external meetings, contributing insights and advocating for cross-functional alignment.
• Maintain high-level visibility into team capacity, initiative progress, and cross-team coordination needs; escalate barriers.
• Support resource planning and annual strategy goal-setting processes, ensuring fidelity with SCI's mission, vision, and values.

Supervisory Duties:
• Recruits, interviews, hires and manages direct report(s)
• Mentors direct report(s) to ensure professional development and growth
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for direct report(s)

Education Required:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Advanced degree preferred

Experience Required:
• Minimum 7 years' relevant and progressive experience in business, nonprofits and/or government is required.
• Preference for some of this experience to be in the Health and Human Services industry.
• Knowledge of the ID/DD population and relevant service array, including home and community-based services and associated reimbursement is highly desirable.
• Experience managing teams.
• Successful track record of leading strategic growth initiatives that result in service diversification, new lines of business, and revenue generation, ideally within the Human Services sector.
• Experience identifying opportunities and securing funding through grant applications, fundraising and other development initiatives preferred.

Physical Demands: Generally, presents standard office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position >95% of the time. Continually operates a computer, keyboard and mouse, and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, and mobile Smartphone device. Constantly positions self to comfortably maintain computer equipment. May occasionally be required to move about in an office setting or position office equipment weighing between 10-25 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. The person in this position frequently communicates with other people. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

IT Roles must be able to position self to maintain computers and equipment, including under desks and in server room(s). Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
